Our MISSION
Did you saw that things in the Avatar’s hands? Yes. It is a foveated, full-parallax, autostereoscopic, 180 degree lightfield 3D displays. The tech of the future, impossible enough, up to date, to be true. Are these simple plastic screens so complex, that they could not be achieved with all our modern technology? Yes, they are. There is a LOT of problems, unavoidable trade-offs, technological limitations. Even the very laws of physics and optics works against it. But this is exactly what we are doing right now.
Our COMMAND
Slicker3D is a Latvian startup involved in development and promotion of new 3D imaging tech. We are the only command in Baltic States granted with international patents for new 3D display technology and Horizon 2020 "Seal of Excellence" in the field. Our mission, our goal and our dream – simple, close-to-ideal, compact, high performance 3D display with super-wide angle continuous parallax, high resolution and extended depth of field. And you know what? We are close to the solution.
Our TECHNOLOGY
The difference with the state-of-the-art – there is no GAPS between separate views. At all. Up to 10 times optical material consumptions – our optical integrators are only 75 - 100 micron in thickness, with all other properties... better (vs. conventional ones). Increased field of view, starting with x2 (60 degree vs. 30) and even more (up to 130 degree of continuous 3D parallax). Since 2014 we have had developed several prototypes of light-control optical films and 3D displays of TRL ~6 level, based on our patented solution. During several years of extensive theoretical research, experimenting with new materials, optical designs, computer 3D image simulation and raytracing, we sufficiently improved our designs and achieved proof-of concept stage of super-wide angle 3D display.
3D SPACE & business opportunity
In recent years, the rapidly developing 3D display market (CAGR 19%) tends to grow faster than the 2D display market (CAGR 6%). There is no doubt that 3D technology will eventually become mainstream and adaptable to all industries that are now using older 2D technologies. There is an obvious factor here for the destruction of old markets: Five times higher user retention rate and about 200 times more informative 3D channels, combined with the natural binocular perception of 3D objects, allow us to talk about a fundamentally new media - 3D SPACE - which can be considered as a resource and a new environment, ideal for communication, science, engineering, buying and selling. Our final goal is to create a cloud service for a global 3D channel based on virtual reality, which will be available for rent and use by all markets, industries and services that currently use older and less informative 2D technologies.
